DESCRIPTION
Hyperion is our financial reporting system for the accounting and finance community. This system contains data for actuals, budget and forecast for all divisions within RockTenn. Data is fed through interfaces for actuals and through user input for budget and forecasting. It is heavily used by all accounting teams and is a critical tool for closing financial books. Knowledge of general ledger (ERP) systems is essential.

KEY Responsibilities

The Hyperion Team's mission is to identify, install and implement those Hyperion applications and solutions that provide the users with effective and efficient resource management and reporting operations. Our goals include:

- Provide a stable and secure application for the end-users
- Create a high availability environment for access to actual, forecast and budget data
- Ensure data consistency between multiple operating systems
- Maintain the hardware and software in accordance with the latest releases
- Periodically validate disaster recovery plan
- Provide a road-map to the business for future functionality and enhancements
- Promote standardization of solutions across the organization
- Create a collaborative work environment for testing and approval of modifications
- Provide timely support to the end-users
- Provide solution specific training and a central repository of documentation
- Create end-user independence and self-sufficiency

The Hyperion Manager will be responsible for prioritizing the day to day activities of the team. The principal purpose of the position is to be the technical leader on our team. They will be responsible for working with the end user community to gather requirements, interpret needs and develop solutions within Hyperion. This role will be responsible for managing the direct employees and project teams consisting of end-user resources that execute and implement the solutions.

This role will guide the system administrator with the maintenance of our applications and make recommendations regarding automation / streamlining these processes. They will review infrastructure resources including application size & settings, services, and recommend optimization strategies.

This role will guide the team and assist the financial users with error resolution within the Hyperion applications and its reporting tools (Planning Forms, SmartView add-in and Financial Report templates) as needed. Communication amongst the team on issue resolution and root cause analyses is a high priority. They will lead the team in developing strategies for solutions, both systematic and process-related, before rolling them out to the users. They will guide the team in providing comprehensive training to financial leaders and super users.

In all communication with the user community, this person will be responsible for empowering individuals to gather and analyze data in the most effective and efficient manner. Therefore, they must have an excellent understanding and appreciation for the interpretation and analysis of financial and business intelligence information and must act as the knowledge source, the trainer and the facilitator for data retrieval in support of all accounting and financial units. Position requirements:
Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance or MIS/Business along with general accounting experience.
Experience in Oracle Financial Systems, Hyperion administrator, or Hyperion technical consultant is required.
Oracle Hyperion Planning / Hyperion Essbase administrator certification desired
Advanced knowledge of building Hyperion applications, migrating objects and running services
Project management certification or experience on large scale - complex solutions.
Six Sigma Experience desired
MS Excel and Access - able to utilize the advanced functions in order to efficiently parse and drill down high volumes of data.
Will work with closely with IT infrastructure resource to resolve performance issues and to implement improvements
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with others.
Detail-oriented and accurate.
JD Edwards 8.1x or later experience desired
